Feel your body begin to ease as gentle, supportive hands guide you a little deeper into each stretch.Notice what it feels like to be held there, to trust the ground beneath you and the person beside you, and to let your body soften further than it does when you practice alone. This is Saha Yoga, partner assisted stretching that brings you into a deeper ease than you could reach on your own. Saha means friendship in Sanskrit, and that is exactly what this class offers. We partner up and use gentle, assisted stretches to help each other move deeper into poses than we could reach alone. Why I Teach This ClassI have been practicing yoga since 2000, and the classes I love most are exactly what I am offering here. What inspired me to teach this class is how uncomfortable I felt in my own body for so long.Yoga was the first form of exercise I actually enjoyed. When I experienced Partner Yoga for the first time, wowza. I felt so supported by someone I had just met in class. My body relaxed into the stretch, going deeper than I ever could on my own. But it gave me something else too, something I did not know I was missing, real human connection.Who Is It For?This is for you if you are craving both a deeper stretch and a little more connection in your life. You do not need to bring a partner. Come solo and pair up with someone in class, or bring a friend if you would like. Every pose can also be done on your own, whatever feels aligned for you. You are free to change your mind at any point, whether that means partnering up mid class or stepping back to practice solo. It is entirely up to you. This class is for adults 18 to 75 with little to no yoga experience. We move gently and slowly, tuning into what each body needs, finding modifications for injuries, and offering chair based options for anyone who finds getting to the floor a challenge. All levels are welcome. We modify to fit you, not the other way around. Come ready to breathe, stretch, laugh a little, and leave feeling more open in your heart, body, and in community.Physical trust building, supporting someone else's stretch and being supported in return, builds a gentle kind of trust that is rare in daily life. What Do I Need to Bring?Wear something comfortable that you can move and stretch in. Mats are provided, and you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Also Offered This MonthThis class is also offered on Friday, August 14 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 15 from 4:00 to 5:30 PM, and Friday, August 28 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Each date has its own registration.Frequently Asked QuestionsDo I have to be touched by my partner? No. Every pose can be done solo, and you can switch between partnering and practicing on your own at any point during class. You are always the one who decides your own edge.Do I need to bring a partner? Not at all. Come solo and pair up with someone in class, or bring a friend if you prefer.I have never done yoga before, is this too advanced for me?Not at all. This class is designed for adults 18 to 75 with little to no yoga experience, and we offer chair based modifications for anyone who finds the floor a challenge.About Your InstructorI am Lynetta Avery, a certified yoga instructor trained in traditional Hatha Yoga from Mt Madonna Center.I bring an emphasis on empowering you to have your yes and your no. You are the master of your own body, and you know better than I do your edges to work on your mat.I am trained in Thai Massage and blend yoga and Thai Massage together to create supportive, assisted yoga poses that leave you feeling more than stretched. You feel grounded and happy to be in your body. Each class opens with an Om and closes with an Om chant. Om, also written as Aum, is considered the most sacred sound in the yoga traditions. It means everything that has existed, everything that exists now, everything that will exist, and even that which is beyond time.We close with a Shavasana resting pose at the end, accompanied by sound healing.ParkingFree parking is available behind Brilliant Light Healing Center.Questions?Text Candace: 408 761 9997 or Lynetta: 707-888-6396
