Safeguarding CPD Session ROTHERHAM
About this Event
*****PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT IS ONLY OPEN TO YAS STAFF TO ATTEND*****
Join the YAS Safeguarding Team in exploring key adult safeguarding themes through practical learning, case studies and lived experience. Certificates will be provided on completion, and light refreshments will be available. The session will cover:
· Domestic abuse experienced by older people — explore the unique barriers older people may face, including dependency, isolation, long-term abuse, carer dynamics, health needs, frailty and fears about losing independence or care support.
· Self-neglect — consider how to recognise and respond to self-neglect, including issues around mental capacity, consent, refusal of support, unwise choices, risk escalation and when safeguarding action may be required.
· A recap on how to make an effective adult safeguarding referral — refresh your skills in writing clear, robust referrals that evidence risk, capture the person’s voice, include relevant observations and support timely, appropriate safeguarding responses.
Through real-world examples, the session will help staff reflect on practice and strengthen their response to adults at risk of harm.
You will leave with practical tools to recognise concerns, share information appropriately and make effective adult safeguarding referrals.
This event is open to YAS staff only. All colleagues across Yorkshire Ambulance Service are welcome to attend, regardless of role, department or level of safeguarding experience. The session has been designed to support learning and confidence across the whole organisation, so whether you are frontline, clinical, operational, corporate or support staff, you are very welcome to join.
