The key Safeguarding Compliance Update for DSL’s, Deputy DSL’s, Headteachers, Deputy Headteachers, CEO’s, CSEL’s & Safeguarding Governors: to help them to keep up to date with statutory changes and issues relating to Safeguarding provision, and to understand how to evidence an effective whole school approach to safeguarding.
This interactive webinar-masterclass is an expert-led guided overview into two key areas of concern for DSLs, Heads and Safeguarding Governors:
1. Understanding the key safeguarding compliance issues and considerations regularly presenting for DSLs and Heads in relation to the latest statutory guidance documents.
2. Understanding how to clearly develop and evidence an effective whole school approach to safeguarding, as well as other areas including Online Safety and Preventing Child-on-Child Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment.
Programme outline
This masterclass will provide a comprehensive understanding of all the key developments in the latest statutory and non-statutory guidance documents, from a safeguarding perspective and how they relate to safeguarding provision in schools. These include:
• Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024,
• ‘Behaviour in Schools’,
• ‘Searching, Screening and Confiscation’
• ‘Working Together to Improve School Attendance 2024’
• ‘The Safer Recruitment Consortium’s ‘Safer Working Practices’,
• The 2024 Ofsted & ISI Inspection handbooks
Drawing on his experience from hundreds of school reviews and safeguarding audits, as well as his work as a local authority safeguarding champion, Brightcore Consultancy's Lead Consultant Oliver Welsby has been able to select the key aspects that Safeguarding Leads, Heads and Governors will want to ensure are in place, so that they are fully compliant, in policy and practise.
There will be a particular emphasis on understanding and evidencing what an effective whole school approach looks like, with particular emphasis on each of the key areas that the DfE requires schools to be able to evidence a whole school approach in. These include:
• Safeguarding,
• Online Safety,
• Preventing Child-on-Child Abuse including Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment,
• Mental Health and Wellbeing
