Run with us towards a better future at the 2024 Safe Water Challenge for Somalia at Rouge Park in Detroit!
Join Mercy-USA for our first 5K/10K as we raise money and awareness for our Safe Water Project. Somalia is one of the most climate-vulnerable and drought-stricken countries in the world with only a third of Somali families having access to clean drinking water.
For over 30 years, Mercy-USA has had a presence in Somalia, providing clean water, sanitation, healthcare, education, food aid, emergency relief, and seasonal food aid across the country. Through the digging and repairing of 800 wells since 1997, the work of our Safe Water Project has been instrumental in improving the lives of over 750,000 people.
You can be a part of this vital work too! Every step we take together leads to a future where safe drinking water is a reality for all Somali families.

• 10k Race: 10:00 AM
• 5k Race: 10:15 AM
• Community Bazaar: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Our wells are funded by private donations. There are
many ways you can be a part of the race to provide clean water access in Somalia!
• Run and gather pledges on your own!
When you set a goal on the run signup website, you will be given a personalized fundraising page. By sharing this page with your friends and family, you can enlist their help in this noble work!
The top three individual fundraisers will be recognized at the closing ceremonies of the event!
• Create a fundraising team!
Ideal for businesses, student groups, and other organizations, but you could also do this with your family or friends.
Set a collective goal and recruit others to fundraise within their communities. Each team member will have a personalized fundraising page that contributes to your shared goal.
