Community Spring Feast
Red Road to Recovery: Featuring the Sacred Hoop

Join us for Traditional Teachings, Wellbriety, Ceremonies, and Community Sweatlodge
No disposables or styrofoam. Please bring your own feast bag, chair, blanket.

Donation Request
This year, we are placing a special focus on supporting our youth, seniors, pregnant or expecting families, and babies. We are currently accepting donations of the following items:
Youth
• Teen hygiene items (hygiene items for anyone are also appreciated)
• School supplies
Seniors
• Reading glasses
• Non-slip slippers
• Night lights
• Tea
Pregnant or Expecting Families
• Postpartum hygiene items
• New baby formula
Babies
• New or like-new baby items (clean onesies, diapers, pacifiers, small blankets, bibs)
Household / Everyone
• New tea towels
• Laundry detergent
• New coffee
• Coffee filters
• Non-slip bath mats
Your generosity helps ensure that community members of all ages have access to essential and comforting items. Thank you for supporting our community.
Food Giveaway
WHAT TO DONATE:
Cooked, ready-to-eat meals
Soups and stews are especially welcome as they are easy to serve and nourishing for large groups
HOW TO DONATE:
Drop off at the Safe Harbour office only during the week before the event (storage is limited)
Or bring directly to the Tipis at Fort Normandeau (May 27–30)
FEAST DAY GUIDANCE:
Food to be shared at the feast should be brought directly to the ceremony before it begins
Please plan to have food there before 11:30 AM
Perishable items or giveaway contributions can be brought to the Big Tipi at Fort Normandeau on Friday during the day, where helpers will place them with other giveaway items

WHAT TO DONATE:
We welcome new or gently used items for people of all ages, such as:
Children’s toys & books
Household and family items
Baby supplies (diapers, formula, etc.)
Items for Elders
Handcrafted goods (especially traditional Indigenous crafts)
Blankets & warm clothing
Non-perishable food items
Sweat Lodge Protocol
Please read PRIOR to attending the sweat lodge ceremony.
Do not use alcohol or street drugs for four (4) days before the sweat
The lodge is sacred; be respectful: no swearing, flirting, or arguing
Look out for each other
Turn off your phones
Children must always be accompanied
Men should wear shorts or swim trunks
Bring your own towel and take it home afterward
Bring plenty of water and any necessary snacks (e.g., for diabetics)
Do not cross the path of rocks once they are carried to the lodge
Help keep the lodge clean before and after the ceremony
For Female Participants
Women on their period do not attend
Pregnant women are welcome
Clothing should be modest: long nighties, dresses, or skirts with a T-shirt; no tank tops or revealing clothing
Women remain on the “women’s side” in and out of the lodge
“These are the teachings of this community lodge. There are many different lodge teachings and they are all valuable. This lodge follows the above protocol.”
Offerings for Prayer, the Sweat Lodge, & the Earth:
Coloured ribbon or 1-meter coloured cotton cloth
Tobacco
Smudge medicines (Sage, Cedar, Sweetgrass, etc.)
