The United Way of North Central Oklahoma, in partnership with the Kay County Healthy Living Coalition, will host the Safe and Steady Program on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Carolyn Renfro Event Center, 445 Fairview Ave. in Ponca City.
The Safe and Steady Program is a free community event designed to help older adults and caregivers—learn effective strategies to prevent falls and reduce the risk of medication-related injuries. Participants will hear from local health professionals, take part in hands on learning activities, and gain practical tools to support independence and everyday safety. Lunch will be provided for registered attendees.
This event is made possible through generous support from the Community Health Foundation of Kay County, RSVP of Kay County AmeriCorps Seniors, AARP Oklahoma, and Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, whose commitment to community wellness and older adult safety helps expand access to important prevention resources across the region.
Fall prevention remains an important public health priority, and organizers emphasize the impact that education and early action can have on reducing injuries and improving quality of life for older adults.
The event is free, but registration is required. Community members may register by calling the RSVP of Kay County office at (580) 762 9412, or by signing up online at www.uwnco.org.
