Sadie Gustafson-Zook
About this Event
Sadie Gustafson-Zook is an artist with an “enviable knack of being able to take a very specific moment in her life and somehow imbue it with universality and a common thread” (Songwriting Magazine).
With a voice often likened to Joni Mitchell, Sadie Gustafson-Zook’s performances exude comfort. Chatting with the audience like they’re good friends, Sadie’s ease on stage brings listeners into the show. As she flows between songs celebrating uncertainty into joyful manifestations of the kind of life she’d like to create, Sadie’s voice glides as easily as water rippling in a stream. With interjections of observation-based comedy, interactive segments, and attainable-but–it-might-be-stretching-it sing-alongs, Sadie finds joy in collaborating with the audience, and that joy gets reflected back.
A finalist in the 2026 NPR Tiny Desk contest, Sadie has performed at festivals across the country, most notably including the Rocky Mountain Folks Fest, Kerrville Folk Festival, Anchorage Folk Festival, and Sister’s Folk Fest. An acclaimed songwriter, Sadie had a winning streak in 2022, working her way through some of folk songwriting’s most illustrious songwriting contests. In the years since, Sadie has enjoyed teaching songwriting, guitar, and voice at some of these same folk music camps and festivals including Rocky Mountain Folk Fest’s Song School (CO), Kerrville’s Song School (TX), Sister’s Folk Fest’s Americana Song Academy (OR), and the Ossipee Valley String Camp (ME).
When Sadie is not on tour, she enjoys living in Minneapolis where she teaches private lessons, goes on walks at the park, participates in a garage band, attends craft nights at her friends’ houses, contra dances, plays fiddle at old-time jams, and organizes singles dating events.
