In honor of Indigenous People’s Day, we gather in circle to reflect, remember, and recommit to solidarity and growth. This offering is not about borrowing or imitating Indigenous practices. It’s about honoring the people whose lands we live upon, and exploring how we can decolonize our own spiritual paths with respect and reciprocity for their heritage and history.
Together, we will:
🌿 Begin with a grounding meditation and land acknowledgment, honoring the caretakers who have walked these lands for generations.
🌿 Learn the history and origins of the local tribes of the state of Virginia, and highlight indigenous artists, events, businesses, and organizations in our community.
🌿 Reflect on how colonization has shaped modern witchcraft and spirituality - learning to distinguish between appreciation and appropriation.
🌿 Journal and share on questions of responsibility, lineage, and solidarity in our spiritual practices.
🌿 Close with a simple ritual of reciprocity, lighting a candle of commitment to walk in respect and reverence.
💝 All donations from this event will go directly to the Virginia Tribal Education Consortium (VTEC), an Indigenous-led nonprofit supporting education, cultural awareness, and advocacy for Virginia’s tribal communities. Learn more about their mission at www.vtecinc.org
Bring a journal, an open heart, and a willingness to listen, learn, and reflect. Together, we’ll practice the sacred act of solidarity - rooting our magic not in taking, but in honoring and giving back.
📅 When: Monday, October 13
