Sacred Choral Masterpieces - The Newman Schola
About this Event
Join us for an evening of choral masterworks, selected from a vast body of sacred works which evoke the rich musical tradition of the Church. Featuring works by Palestrina, Victoria and Byrd.
Founded in 2021, the Newman Schola has performed in both concert and liturgical settings up and down the country, as well as releasing its first recording in 2024. Originally founded to be the regular accompaniment to the liturgies of the University of Birmingham Catholic Chaplaincy (Newman House), the choir prides itself on its deep connection to the expression of the Catholic faith, in which the music it performs is rooted.
The Newman Schola is directed by Colin Lapus.
Concert admission is free and will last for approximately 1 hour. At the end of the concert there will be a retiring collection to defray costs.
