Do you know where your nearest creek is? There could be a creek right in your own back yard, or just up the street from you! Lots of our small streams and tributaries in South Austin are easily overlooked, and therefore, can get really messy, really quickly. We work to care for even the smallest creeks and we hope you will too!
Pleasant Hill Creek is a small tributary right behind the Little Darlin' and it needs our help! The creek runs right behind some apartment buildings and close to convenient stores so it gets filled with trash pretty quickly. That's why we're going back for another clean-up event and we hope you can join us!
We will meet in the parking lot just behind The Little Darlin' at 9am where we will give a short safety talk and then clean until 11am.
Long pants, long sleeves, and a hat are recommended. Sturdy shoes (no sandals, slides or flip flops) is a requirement. Please also bring your own water.
We will have some sunscreen and bug repellant, but also recommend you bring your own if you have allergies or preferences.
Gloves, grabbers, and trash bags will also be provided.
Requirements:
Participants should expect uneven surfaces in the area. There are no paved trails on the site and some parts may be muddy or slippery. Participants can expect to come across questionable, and sometimes even dangerous materials that may require special training or experience with removal of such items.
All participants must read and agree to the liability waiver provided when registering. Minors under 18 must be signed in by an adult. Minors are allowed, and encouraged, to participate but must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event. The waiver for minors are required when registering.
Closed-toe, sturdy shoes are also required. A reusable water bottle is also a requirement due to dangerous heat conditions. Hats , long pants, and preferably breathable, lightweight long sleeve shirts are strongly suggested.
SACA may provide insect repellant and sun screen for communal use but It is recommended that participants come with their own if you have preferences or allergies.
Trash removal tools, gloves, and trash bags will be provided although you may bring your own.
