Sabiha Çimen - Headliner Talk

Photographer Sabiha Çimen reflects on the relationship between personal experience, memory, and photographic storytelling. Drawing from Hafiz, her long-term project about young girls studying to memorise the Quran in schools like the one she attended herself, she explores the complex realities of girlhood, faith, friendship, and identity. In this talk, Sabiha will discuss how an insider perspective can shape the way a community is photographed, and how documentary practice can create space for intimacy, imagination, and the contradictions of lived experience.
