Wystawa prezentuje cykl rzeźb - figur ceramicznych będących popiersiami. Tworzą one galerię postaci o uproszczonym charakterze. W opozycji do "poważnej" rzeźby jaką przystało tworzyć absolwentce Wydziału Rzeźby na ASP, te prace są zabawnym przedstawieniem różnych postaci. Cykl powstał w ramach zabawy konwencją przedstawiania portretów rzeźbiarskich. Jest zdystansowaniem się do tradycyjnej rzeźby uprawianej w pracowniach akademickich. Postaci te tworzą swoiste awatary osób, którymi inspirowała się autorka przy pracy. Jest to współczesna interpretacja konwencji portretu rzeźbiarskiego.
Forma rzeźb wykonana jest przez Dorotę Piekarczyk - rzeźbiarkę i ceramiczkę, natomiast opracowanie kolorystyczne i dekor opracowane jest przez zaprzyjaźnionego z autorką tatuatora Sławomira Nitschke - absolwenta malarstwa na poznańskiej ASP. Jest to swoista kolaboracja artystyczna.
Tradycja zdobienia ciała tatuażami sięga wielu wieków, ale Dorota Piekarczyk i Sławomir Nitschke, przenoszą ten motyw na grunt rzeźby – tego jeszcze nie było! Sławomir Nitschke podkreśla, że obecność tatuażu na ceramice dodatkowo potęguje wrażenie niepoważności tych rzeźb. Choć tatuaż towarzyszy ludzkości od zarania dziejów i przeszedł ogromną ewolucję, wciąż bywa bagatelizowany i postrzegany jako chwilowa moda lub decyzja, której można żałować. Zarówno ceramika, jak i tatuaż mają długą historię, jednak ich połączenie to nowa jakość – o ile tatuaż na skórze jest przemijający, o tyle jego wizerunek utrwalony w ceramice może przetrwać tysiące lat.

Dorota Piekarczyk - urodzona w 1985 roku. Absolwentka Wydziału Rzeźby Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Poznaniu i Liceum Plastycznego o specjalności ceramika w Opolu. Stypendystka Dziekana Wydziału Rzeźby w roku 2010 oraz laureatka I Nagrody Wydziałowego Konkursu Stypendialnego w roku 2011. Od 2018 roku prowadzi w Poznaniu studio ceramiczne Wytwórnia Bakcyl. Studio jest jednym z laureatów miejskiego konkursu Otwarta Strefa Kultury Łazarz.

Sławomir Nitschke - urodzony w Poznaniu 12 sierpnia 1986. Absolwent poznańskiego Liceum Plastycznego oraz Wydziału Malarstwa Uniwersytetu Artystycznego w Poznaniu. Od 16 lat tatuuje, a od 13 lat prowadzi studio tatuażu Czaszka i Sztylet w Poznaniu. Poza tatuowaniem zajmuje się ilustracją i od roku ceramiką. Wielokrotnie brał udział w wystawach zbiorowych między innymi w Warszawie, Koninie, Łodzi.

The exhibition presents a series of ceramic sculptural figures in the form of busts. Together, they create a gallery of simplified characters. In contrast to the “serious” sculpture one might expect from a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts’ Sculpture Department, these works playfully depict a variety of figures. The series emerged as an experiment with the conventions of sculptural portraiture and serves as a light-hearted distancing from the academic traditions of sculpture practised in art schools.
The figures are kind of avatars of the people who inspired the artist during her creative process. This is a contemporary interpretation of the sculptural portrait.
The form of the sculptures was created by Dorota Piekarczyk- a sculptor and ceramic artist, while the colour and decorative designs were developed by her collaborator and friend Sławomir Nitschke, a tattoo artist and graduate of Painting at the Poznań Academy of Fine Arts. This exhibition is thus a unique artistic collaboration.
The tradition of decorating the body with tattoos goes back many centuries, but Dorota Piekarczyk and Sławomir Nitschke bring this motif into the realm of sculpture — something never seen before! Nitschke emphasises that the presence of tattoos on ceramics further enhances the playful and “non-serious” nature of these works. Although tattooing has accompanied humanity since ancient times and undergone tremendous evolution, it is still sometimes dismissed as a fleeting fashion or a decision one might regret. Both ceramics and tattooing have long histories, but their combination creates a new quality — while a tattoo on skin is transient, its image preserved in ceramic form can endure for thousands of years.

Dorota Piekarczyk - born in 1985. A graduate of the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań and the Art High School in Opole, specialising in ceramics. She received a scholarship from the Dean of the Faculty of Sculpture in 2010 and won the First Prize in the Faculty Scholarship Competition in 2011. Since 2018, she has run the Wytwórnia Bakcyl ceramics studio in Poznań. The studio is one of the winners of the city's Łazarz Open Culture Zone competition.

Sławomir Nitschke - born in Poznań on August 12th, 1986. A graduate of the Poznań High School of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Painting at the University of Arts in Poznań. He has been tattooing for 16 years and has run the Skull and Dagger tattoo studio in Poznań for 13 years. Besides tattooing, he also works as an illustrator and, for the past year, a ceramic artist. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including those in Warsaw, Konin, and Łódź.
