Rustic Roads Program Catoctin Creek Cluster Public Meeting
About this Event
The Rustic Roads Program* oversees the designation and protection of the County’s most historic, scenic, and unaltered rural roads. There are currently 62 designated Rustic Roads accumulating 85 total miles of gravel, tar & chip, and asphalt. These roads represent a unique part of our heritage: narrow, lightly traveled surrounded by farmland, forests, and historic landscapes.
The Catoctin Creek Cluster has a network of 11 rustic roads which are surrounded by approximately 2,500 acres of preserved land including the Fox Haven Organic Farm, Retreat & Learning Center. These roads are unique features to the area that complement the surrounding preservation efforts of Catoctin Creek area. Officially adding these roads to the Rustic Roads Program will help keep them preserved, protected, and maintained in their rural and rustic glory.
This meeting will be an opportunity to learn more about the Rustic Roads Program, discuss the Catoctin Creek Cluster nomination, and collaboratively share information about the process with the public.
*The Rustic Roads Program is administered by the Rustic Roads Commission along with the Department of Planning and Department of Public Works (DPW)
