Getting Rushden Rangers off to a Splashingly Super Start.
July 29th: Brilliant Beavers
Come and learn all about the Brilliant Beavers that have made Rushden their home. Boudica, Alan and their 8 cubs have been very busy since they arrived last year.
They’ve got straight to work building, and all the wood they’ve cleared has allowed other animals to move in. Natures best engineers are cleared space for light, nests, and spawning spaces for other species.
Get busy with the Rushden Rangers and learn how to build like a brilliant beaver (no gnawing required).
August 5th: Terrific Trees
Small, tall, thin and thick these wooden wonders in our world can mostly go unnoticed. This week Rushden Rangers are getting up close and curious about how trees help us in lots of ways, from breathing by cleaning the air, to feeding us with fruit, to keeping us cool with shade. And they don’t just help humans, trees support all sorts of creatures and the whole plant. We’ll dig into the science behind these majestic marvels, and celebrate their terrific-ness with some tree inspired art to boot.
August 12th: Wild Weather & Climate Control
Whether the English Summer is sizzling or soggy we love to talk about the weather. So Rushden Rangers are investigating how ocean currents move, how the wind has a forms, and what is the green house effect? They’ll be asking why is it hot in summer and cold in winter? How is it getting hotter? And what can we do to help be green and look after our delicate climate control. Inspiring stuff for everyone to understand our worlds weather and eco up our homes and lives.
August 19th: Brilliant Bugs (Small and Mighty)
Bug Bingo is back ! Get your dobbers at the ready as we go searching for the small and might bugs and mini-beasts. And as you’re checking them off the bingo cards learn about how insects pollinate plants to help grow food for all, how they keep pests as bay, and how they make fertiliser from everything. And celebrating natures own transformers with the amazing method some bugs grow. Rushden Rangers will also be sharing how we can care for these important creatures and make sure they’re not surviving but thriving.
August 26th: Wildlife Gardening in the Community Garden
Rushden Rangers are returning to the hive of activity and beautiful bounty of the Community Gardens. Learn all about the wonderous world and work of worms.
