Please save the date and join our 5K race, “Run to Breathe” on May 2nd, to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation! The 5K timed and certified race will take place on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, at 9:00am at 1246 Dismal Swamp Canal Trail in Chesapeake, VA. Race Packet pickup, at the event, starts at 8:00 am.
Nearly 40,000 people in the United States have cystic fibrosis: a progressive, genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. They are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, and friends who face the sobering prospect of a shortened lifespan.
The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with CF the opportunity to lead long, fulfilling lives by funding research and drug development, partnering with the CF community, and advancing high-quality, specialized care.
Nearly every CF drug currently available was made possible through Foundation support. These drugs are significantly improving quality of life and adding decades of life for people born with CF. Yet, many people with CF do not benefit from existing therapies. Our vision is a cure for every person with cystic fibrosis – a life free from the burden of this disease – and we will not leave anyone behind.
By joining our 5K race, “Run to Breathe”, you have an opportunity in your lifetime to be part of ending this disease, while having a great time doing it! Please consider joining us and celebrate breathing, while helping to make medical history.
