Run Brave
About this Event
Join us for an evening of conversation, learning, and practical planning with trail running coach Tarrin van Niekerk, sports nutritionist John Middlewick, and sport scientist Em Robertson.
This Run Brave session explores the unique considerations of training the female endurance athlete, while also diving into the fundamentals of fueling for performance that apply to all endurance athletes.
Together, we'll unpack questions such as: Should female athletes train differently? How do training load and structure differ? Is it possible - or even beneficial - to train around your menstrual cycle? And how can athletes better understand and support their energy availability?
The second half of the evening will focus on nutrition planning, where John will guide attendees through a practical exercise to calculate their carbohydrate needs and compare them to what they're currently consuming during training and racing. Many endurance athletes significantly undershoot their fueling targets, and this session will provide the tools to build a more effective plan.
Whether you're preparing for your next trail race, a multi-day adventure, or simply looking to better understand your body's performance needs, this is an evening packed with actionable insights.
