Rumpus Machine is a band of teenage brothers and sisters based in Torbay on the North shore of Auckland. They pride themselves in performing top-class covers of the most epic classic rock songs in history from the 50’s to the 90’s – all while writing guitar-based original rock music of their own.
Forming in 2020, this youthful act is collecting a number of original songwriting and performance accolades. In January 2025 they opened for Cold Chisel, Icehouse, Everclear and Bic Runga to a crowd of 17,000 in Taupo at the Greenstone Summer Concert. They’ve also opened for Jordan Luck, and international bands Skindred the Mad Caddies. They have entered every competition that they qualify for - recently winning Auckland Council's SUSO competition in 2024, placing 3rd nationally in the Rockquest 2024 Nationals while winning the Rockquest North Shore Region, winning the AJ Hackett #thrashmore songwriting competition in 2024 and placing 3rd nationally in the New Zealand Battle of the Bands 2023.
Keeping it in the family, Rumpus Machine is a four piece sibling band consisting Daniel Hyde (17) on lead vocals and guitar, Matthew Hyde (15) on Guitar & BV’s, Hannah Hyde (14) on bass guitar & BV’s and her twin sister Ashley Hyde (14) on drums & BV’s.
With an impressive worldwide social media following growing; They have a social media following of 80,000 in NZ and around the world. Moreover, their videos have been shared across major streaming platforms, including Music Man UK, attracting more than 50 million views. Legendary drummer John Densmore of The Dorrs even shared the band’s version of “People Are Strange”. High praise indeed!
