Rumi Canada / SamaKhaneh Retreat 2026 سماع

Meditation, Sama & Music theropy retreat hosted by Farzad Shams a.h. & Amir Koushkani. Rooted in tradtion of Irfan / Sufism; an in-person residensial retreat over over the victoria May long weekend, starting Saturday May 16th @ 10am ending 12pm on Monday May 18th. This is a limited capacity retreat to 18 participent, there maybe tent accomodation if we are booked for indoor accomodation, for details of that or any other info email us: [email protected]. There is limited Bursary availabe for those who need support to attend, please email for inquiry and explain the situation.

Retreat will includ, indoor accomodation and vegeterian meals at the beautiful Sea To Sky retreat centre. Meals will be served, and as part of practise (Karmi Yoga / Service practise) participants take turn in meal clean ups.

Sessions will inlcude: Meditation, deep listening / Sama of dervishes with music, spiritual practice. A way to unwind, connect, send gratitude and healing prayer for all . . .

Farzad Shams a.j: is trained as Whirling Dervish, practice of sama—inner listening. A graduate of Sulūk Academy under direction of Pir Zia Inayat Khan. He serves Sufi communities in Canada through Rumi Canada. , instagram: @farzad_shams_ah & @rumicanada. He has been presenting and sharing at the Sea to Sky retreat center since 2009, many years host events at the Aga Khan Musuem, Omega retreat center upper state New York . . . . etc & many places around the globe. for over 15 years, he has been holding SamaKhaneh circles / session in Toronto and since 2020 in North Vancouver on a montly basis, where they share practise of Sama.

Amir Koushkani: he was introduced to traditional Persian themes under the tutelage of Master Dariush Pirniakan. He holds a Masters Degree in Western Musical Composition and received a PhD in Ethnomusicology at York University, Toronto. He has been part of many Sufi Musical events specially of Persian Irfan in Canada and Eurpe, He most recently performed at the Aga Khan Museum and Ismaili Centre Toronto during Nuit Blanche.
