Ruins as Medium and Method in Global Politics
About this Event
Ruins as Medium and Method in Global Politics
Ruins are an increasingly visible part of global politics, from the rubble of wars and economic devastation to the scorched earth that climate change leaves behind. Drawing on Stoler's invitation to approach 'ruin' as both noun and verb, this panel revisits the place of ruins and ruination in global politics (Stoler 2008). How can we study global politics through the ruins? What kinds of insight does such a focus reveal and centre? But also, how can we study ruins and ruination? What and how can we learn from ruins in thinking about the present and future of global politics?
Panel co-organised by the Methods Centre and the Research Centre in International Relations at King's College London.
