About this Event
From "How do I thread this?" to "I made it!"
Are you staring at a sewing machine with a mix of curiosity and fear? Skip the boring tote bags and make a statement piece instead. This is a low-pressure entry point into sewing designed for people who want to create, not just "learn."
We don’t do "beginner" labels here. We believe you become good by doing. If you’ve been looking for a sign to find your creative "current, " this is it.
The Project: The Ruffle Heart Bag
In this small, supportive workshop, we’re sewing the Ruffle Heart Bag. It’s the ultimate soft-girl aesthetic and surprisingly achievable. We’ve expertly prepped the tricky parts so you can focus on the wins. By the end of Week 4, you’ll walk away with a boutique-quality bag and the skills to say, "Yeah, I actually made this."
What we’ll cover:
- The Essentials: Demystifying the machine, threading, and winding your first bobbin.
- The "Lingo": Translating sewing lingo into plain English (goodbye, confusion!).
- Stitch Control: Mastering different stitches and knowing exactly when to use them.
- The Build: Bringing your bag to life, from the first seam to the final ruffle.
The Vibe
- Chic & Encouraging: Think 90s/00s pop anthems, great snacks, and zero judgement.
- Expert Guidance: Led by Bolly, a teacher who prioritises passion over perfection.
- The Full Experience: Wear our signature ruffle aprons and enjoy the company of our Chief Emotional Support Officers, Boba & Mochi (studio cat and dog).
What you'll get
- Your Seat at the Table: A dedicated spot in our beautiful pink studio.
- Premium Materials: Everything is prepped and ready for you to sew.
- The Hardware: Full use of our Brother sewing machines and all necessary tools.
- Fuel: A curated spread of snacks and drinks (tea, coffee, and fizzy).
- The "Designer" Finish: A custom "The Craft & Current Club" tag to sew into your bag.
Knowledge required
Zero. Whether your machine at home is currently a dust collector or you've never even touched a bobbin, you are the perfect candidate for this workshop.
What to bring
Just yourself! We provide every single thread, needle, and snack.
Date
4 Wednesday evenings (1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd April), 7pm - 9pm.

I was initially slightly nervous about taking on the task of sewing a bag from scratch! I hadn’t used a sewing machine since secondary school! Our host Bolly couldn’t have been anymore helpful and gracious with her time and skills whilst mentoring during the session. The instructions were easy to follow and we were allowed to go at our own pace. I was full of pride for myself and the entire group with our final result! The bags looked great and were really unique! I left with a new found confidence in using the sewing machine and an urge to use it more to make more creations!

The craft session was amazing. Bolly is an excellent teacher, you’ll learn valuable skills. She taught us how to use the tools and showed us step by step how to make the bag. It was easy to follow, even without any experience. I felt very proud of myself after completing the bag. It was a really enjoyable experience.

I could start by saying I am not a crafty person or that I am not good at (insert any craft). But the reality for me is that it takes a good teacher to give me that push to start something. And Bolly is exactly that person – full of passion, energy, excitement for any type of craft. She made the session feel effortless and achievable, guiding us at every step.
10/10 would do it again (and recklessly purchase a sewing machine in the process), Bolly is an absolute gem 💎

Such a lovely day! It’s so satisfying to enter the room with 0 knowledge on sewing and leave the room with a nicely crafted bag. Bolly is a great host and a patient teacher, we had a lot of fun. For a couple of hours I managed to de-connect from everything else and just be present! I’m quite proud with the result too!
