Rudresh Mahanthappa

Renowned alto saxophonist and Princeton Director of Jazz Rudresh Mahanthappa brings his critically acclaimed Hero Trio to the stage for an unforgettable performance. Named DownBeat’s Alto Saxophonist of the Year for nine years running, Mahanthappa steps away from his own compositions to honor his defining influences—reimagining classics by Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, and Keith Jarrett, alongside genre-bending tributes to Johnny Cash and Stevie Wonder. Joining him in this intimate, high-energy format are two of modern jazz's most revered rhythm section masters: master drummer Rudy Royston (Bill Frisell, Branford Marsalis) and virtuoso bassist François Moutin (Martial Solal, Moutin Reunion Quartet). Together, this stellar trio breaks down genre boundaries to showcase music as a unifying, joyful force.
