Rucksack Revolution | Stevens Point Album Release Show
About this Event
6pm- Doors
7pm- Show (2 Sets)
Rucksack Revolution is the melding of two of Wisconsin's most recognized modern singer-songwriters. Adam Greuel, of the high-energy string band Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, and Sarah Vos, of the folk-inspired Dead Horses, draw from broad musical influences ranging from Leonard Cohen to Fleetwood Mac to Gillian Welch & David Rawlings to bring you a show that will be mostly focused on original material. The duo's chemistry as musical partners and dear friends is apparent as their music features tight harmonies, introspective lyricism, and soaring melodies.
Their first album Rucksack Revolution was recorded at the famed Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, MN and released in 2022. The record gained the attention of fans and promoters alike and the duo soon began appearing at festivals and small theaters throughout the Midwest. The live show typically features original songs from that first album, some select originals from the Horseshoes & Hand Grenades and Dead Horses repertoires, and a number of cover songs by artists that the pair have been deeply inspired by.
In 2026, Sarah and Adam recorded their sophomore effort, Polish Flats and Watercress, and the album is officially released on Friday, August 21. Featuring 10 original songs, the duo put the focus on the simplicity and beauty of “the song” and created a relatively stripped down album in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. The write up that’s included in the physical copy of the album helps to paint the picture of the process:
When you’re a youngster, you occasionally hear from the older and wiser about the way time seems to speed up with age. You don’t really comprehend that phenomenon until it hits you personally right square in the feels. The seasons almost bounce from one to another, your dog seems to get older quicker than you expected, and you find yourself flustered from not having quite enough hours in the day. Despite a yearning to make this album together, life seemed to keep getting in the way. Our friendship of over 15 years has developed into one that continually finds new growth among the key tenants of love, understanding, and flexibility. So we put our hearts and heads together and mused on ways to make it happen, ultimately coming to the conclusion that we should take a stab at recording in our homes. Sarah recorded at her place in Milwaukee, a beautiful nearly 100 year old “Polish Flat”. That style of home was popularized by Polish immigrants in the late 19th century and it’s the kind of place where you wish you could talk to the walls. Adam recorded in his cabin home, affectionately titled “Gnarnia”, in the hill country of Wisconsin, nestled between two watercress-riddled spring creeks. That water starts at the springs by the cabin and rolls its way into the Kickapoo, then the Wisconsin, and finally the Mighty Mississippi, all the way through the American expanse to New Orleans. So in the same way that there’s a couple dear friends coming together to make this album, perhaps there’s also a couple of spaces doing the same. And then there’s you! We hope that you might take these songs into your space and that they become part of you too.
