Join your fellow backcountry hunters as we Ruck The Rise in preparation to take on the mountains this fall.
The Rise at Coler Mountain Bike Preserve is 185 steps, ascending 11 flights from the valley floor to the top. Bring your rucking gear, plenty of water, and your GRRR. This is an all-ages event, so bring the family along for the ride. We'll keep each other motivated, no matter where you're starting from, we hope you'll be closer to your goals by the time we finish.
Attendees have two options for completing the mission:
Option 1 is to begin from the North Trail Head Parking Lot off Peach Orchard Road. You should plan to arrive by 6 PM. Journey approximately 3/4 mile down the Applegate Trail. Option 2 and for an extra dose of mountain cred, you can start from event leader James Brandenburg's house, just up the hill from the Preserve. Be there by 5:30 PM. You'll hike down the hill to The Rise, and then to earn your stripes you'll have to climb the finisher back to James' house. Think of it as one more lap for good measure.
A couple of important notes: Directions to the starting point will be provided to those who RSVP. This is a physical event in the midst of summer. Be prepared for whatever conditions we encounter, we will ruck unless there's lightning. You must bring your own water, there is none provided on our route. We're also thankful for the opportunity to use the Coler facility.
