RSR Rangers & Volunteer Spring Series Event: Mind Your Manners

Join us at Ruff Start Rescue for a Rangers & Volunteer Event on April 9th, 2026! Ruff Start Rangers, a program within the Education Department, aims to educate youth through service and activities in hopes the future of animal welfare sees fewer homeless pets and more responsible pet owners. All themes in this series come from this program.

Mind Your Manners: Training for Dogs in the Community is an educational program focused on building real-life manners and positive training skills that help dogs succeed in public spaces. Topics include leash skills, polite greetings, focus around distractions, and reinforcing calm, confident behavior using reward-based training methods. This program supports guardians in creating well-mannered dogs who can safely and comfortably navigate neighborhoods, parks, events, and everyday community life.

The event will start at 5:30 pm and is estimated to last ~90 minutes; we will do a brief presentation about the topic then do a fun themed activity together! When signing up, please include parents and kids in the total admission number so we have an idea of how many will be in attendance. 

Important Information:

• A parent/guardian MUST attend the event with the child
• Suggested ages: 5-12
• Ruff Start Rescue is not liable for any injuries resulting from this event
• This event will take place indoors at Ruff Start Rescue 
• There is no fee to attend, but donations are always welcome to help cover the cost of materials

Parking: We have a paved parking lot in front of the building. If there are no spots available, please park on the south side of 319th.
