Experience a dynamic triple bill of contemporary ballets showcasing the history and talents of the RWB in this must-see season finale. The program begins with Mark Godden’s Angels in the Architecture set to Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring capturing the essence of the Shaker community through balletic and symbolic movements. Next Bolero an abstract contemporary work influenced by Maurice Ravel’s composition of the same name is RWB Principal Dancer Stephan Azulay’s mainstage choreographic debut. This contemporary ballet pays homage to his upbringing by weaving farruca - a type of flamenco music and dance - into passionate ensemble performances. The evening concludes with Itzik Galili's Hikarizatto a work of rhythmic athletic movements and pulsating drum beats that explores the vitality of dance. This performance also marks the final curtain for Artistic Director André Lewis C.M. O.M. M.S.M. after 50 years with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet making it a historic event not to be missed.
