Royal Diving Academy is an Austrian band with roots in the Viennese Psychedelic-Rock Subculture. Before they founded the Academy they released the album alrite as a trio under the name Glee. The three piece band created an elaborate sound by combining a rock approach with a jazz attitude. Traces of Miles Davis are found in the compositions as well as allusions to the Beatles. Especially when it comes to harmonizing and the joy of experimenting with sounds and the roles of the different instruments. Sometimes you find the bass to be the lead instrument. Sometimes the drums break out of the rhythmic cage to let the others stick to the beat. It is full of tongue in cheek moves and musical references.
With the release of the Live-Album Campcore the band grew into a five-piece. With two special voices joining the original trio: The versatile 70s Fusion Violin of Roxannne Szankovich (Toxic Violin) and the charming voice of Clara Wolf (Almuth). That opened up new dimensions when it comes to storytelling perspective and musical texture.
Wirrbel ist ein Frauentrio aus Wien/Waldviertel/Südtirol und macht seit 2020 gemeinsam Musik. Sie bringen eigene Texte auf die Bühne, begleitet von Gitarre, Harfe, Kontrabass und Trompete. Ihre Arrangements zwischen zeitgenössischer Kammermusik und Liedermacherei sind geprägt von Vielstimmigkeit, Vielschichtigkeit und Vielsaitigkeit. Ihre Lieder erzählen vom Fallen und Fliegen, vom Leiden und Lieben, von Chaos und Co-Menstruation.
Ein Konzert von Wirrbel verspricht Charme und Schmäh, Tanzen und Träumen, Verführung und Entführung in die Ferne. Eine musikalische Reise über Höhen und Tiefen des Existierens in einer wilden Welt. Und da kommt vieles zusammen. Ein bisschen Pop, ein bisschen Wienerlied, ein bisschen Blues, ein bisschen Jazz, ein bisschen Lachen und ein bisschen Weinen, ein bisschen Hunger und ein bisschen Verzweiflung, ein bisschen Suchen und ein bisschen Finden. Mit drei Stimmen in vier Sprachen auf fünf Instrumenten in sechs Händen, bis alle wieder sicheren Boden unter den Füßen haben. Wirrbel ist wirr, wirrklich, ein Wirrklicht in der Dunkelheit.
