Route 66 has long been woven into the fabric of American travel, automotive culture and adventure. Nearly a century after its creation, the legendary "Mother Road" continues to inspire travelers from around the world.
Join the Packard Proving Grounds Historical Speaker Series for Route 66: The Mother Road in a ’57 Chevy with automotive engineer and former industry executive Bob Feldmaier.
In recent years, Feldmaier and his son traveled the full length of historic Route 66 from Illinois to California in a classic 1957 Chevrolet. Along the way, they encountered the vintage motels, roadside diners, fading neon signs and unique attractions that have made Route 66 one of America's most beloved highways.
Through firsthand stories, personal photographs and reflections from the journey, Feldmaier will explore what remains of Route 66 today, how it has changed over the decades and why it continues to capture the imagination of travelers, car enthusiasts and historians alike.
