Wisteria. Japanese Honeysuckle. Stiltgrass. Bradford Pears. English Ivy. Tree of Heaven. What do these and many more plants have in common? They aren’t native to the Piedmont and in most cases cause considerable damage to the local ecosystem. Join ecologist Sam Wright to discuss invasive plants, the harm they cause, and how to remove them. Sam is a plant ecologist with over 24 years of experience in plant conservation, habitat restoration, and land management. With a BS in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida and an MS from the University of South Florida, Sam specializes in combating invasive plants, preserving native species, and restoring habitats. Sam owns and manages EcoGuy Environmental Consulting, which assists property owners in the Triangle area with habitat restoration. Services include removing invasive plants, developing management plans, and replanting native species to restore natural ecosystems.
