About this Event
Rooted & Rising: Building stronger families, deeper connections, and generational legacy together.
Join us for a community launch & learn experience, an intimate, family friendly gathering introducing a new intergenerational initiative designed to strengthen Black and Brown families and the communities they lead.
This is not a lecture. This is not a clinical workshop. This is a warm, welcoming space designed to feel like the beginning of a village.
Rooted & Rising exists for families who want to grow intentionally, lead confidently, and build legacy with purpose.
What to Expect at the Launch & Learn
- A family centered interactive cooking demonstration by Chef Too Saucy
- A moderated founder conversation
- A community listening session
- Free on site childcare
You will hear the origin story behind this collaboration, understand the vision for the next two years, and see how this initiative is designed to strengthen family dynamics, leadership capacity, and generational impact.
This gathering is relational, culturally grounded, and rooted in shared growth.
Childcare is provided so caregivers can fully participate.
Come connect. Come learn. Come grow with us.
What Is Rooted & Rising?
Rooted & Rising is a two year intergenerational initiative created by LeadHer to Purpose and The Elizabeth Gaye Foundation to strengthen families across generations.
The experience unfolds through three culturally affirming intergenerational workshops, culminating in the annual Mind Your Business Conference.
Together, these experiences create a pathway for families to grow in identity, leadership, and legacy.
Intergenerational Leadership & Identity Workshops
Rooted & Rising begins with three guided workshops designed for middle and high school girls and their families/caregivers.
For caregivers and family members, the workshops focus on:
- Strengthening identity grounding and confidence
- Building the belief and skillset to be the support system their family needs to thrive
- Growing as leaders within their homes and communities
- Understanding how life experiences, community influences, and past challenges shape leadership today
- Developing tools to lead their families with clarity and purpose
For girls, the workshops focus on:
- Becoming grounded in who they are
- Recognizing how identity informs leadership
- Strengthening confidence through voice practice
- Clarifing the type of leader they aspire to become
- Building stronger communication with their caregiver
The ultimate goal is generational impact. Rooted & Rising contributes to families who shape communities, preserve culture, and build legacy that extends far beyond one generation. Through this experience, girls grow into adulthood grounded in identity and confident in their leadership, while caregivers strengthen their confidence, skillset, and belief that they are the support system their family needs to thrive.
Free childcare is provided for additional children so families can fully participate.
Culminating Experience: Mind Your Business Conference
The journey culminates in the annual Mind Your Business Conference, a community wide experience created by and for the Black and Brown community.
The conference welcomes Black and Brown women and men of all ages into a safe and affirming space to engage in conversations that have historically been silenced by the phrase “Mind Your Business.”
Here, that phrase is reclaimed.
This is a space to address how our traumas, community realities, and lived experiences shape us, while also moving beyond survival and into intentional leadership, ownership, and purpose driven living.
Childcare is also provided during the conference to ensure accessibility.
