In the early hours of Sunday, August 25, a car crashed into the corner of the building, causing significant structural damage and forcing the shop to close for two and a half weeks. Despite these setbacks, our organization was incredibly fortunate to continue paying our dedicated employees. Though insurance will cover most of the estimated $150,000 in damages, the extended closure has impacted both our operations and the community members who rely on us. We need support to fully rebuild and continue serving our community. On Friday, September 27, FCW will host a fundraising event at Land Grant Brewing Company with the goals of raising $30,000 and advocating for safer streets in our city.
This event is crucial for both repairing our shop and continuing our role as a vital community resource. Since 2011, FCW has provided affordable bikes to those who need them for transportation, along with education and a space to maintain them.
Join us for a group bike ride around Franklinton at 6pm, followed by live DJs, an e-bike raffle, and Land Grant favorites. Land Grant co-founders Adam and Lauren Benner and Walt Keys have committed to donating 10% of all tabs from the evening. This event will also highlight the need for safer streets and better transportation infrastructure in Columbus.
Event Details:
• Date: Friday, September 27
• Location: Land Grant Brewing Company (424 W Town St, Columbus)
• Time: Group bike ride at 6pm; festivities 7-10pm
• Activities: Group bike ride, live DJ, e-bike raffle and more!
• All proceeds will go directly toward repairing the shop and ensuring FCW can continue to provide essential services to the community. Whether you’re a longtime supporter or new to the cause, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
