MCBC’s Roll On Reads book club returns for Year 3 starting Monday, November 3 at 6:30 pm at the Pigeon Hill Brewer’s Lounge! (895 4th St, Muskegon, MI 49440) Roll On Reads meets on the first Monday of the month throughout the Roll On off-season (November to March). This year, we are excited to announce that we will be reading Walking City Rules: 101 Steps to Making Better Places by Jeff Speck. For November 3, plan to read Parts 1 to 5 (through page 46). Don’t worry if you aren’t able to read everything beforehand or attend every meeting – this book is easy to jump in and out of and pick up on the highlights! Check with MADL (Muskegon Area District Library) for copies.
This book is a toolbox for biking advocates like us to help understand and apply in our communities and in conversations with fellow bikers, walkers, urbanists, and neighbors as well as local government staff members and elected officials. We’ll discuss places where some of the tools already exist and how they can and already are do make a difference.
The goal of this year’s book club is to identify tools we would like to apply or see more of in our communities to make them more walkable and bikeable and discuss how we can work together to get them implemented!
The dates and books sections are, as follows:
Monday, November 3 at 6:30 pm at the Brewer’s Lounge (Parts 1 – 4)
Monday, December 1 at 6:30 pm at the Brewer’s Lounge (Parts 5 – 8)
Monday, January 5 at 6:30 pm at the Brewer’s Lounge (Parts 9 - 12)
