About this Event
In the year since Venezuela’s 2024 presidential election—marred by credible reports of fraud and followed by a wave of political repression—the Maduro regime has plunged the country deeper into crisis. Corruption, criminal networks, and systemic impunity for the regime are fueling instability that has ripple effects far beyond its borders. What’s happening in Venezuela today has serious consequences for the region and the world.
Join Freedom House for an event examining the political and human rights situation in Venezuela, the critical role of regional diplomacy in restoring democratic institutions and protecting rights, and the concrete steps governments and key stakeholders can take to support the democratic aspirations of the Venezuelan people.

Gerardo Berthin, President of Freedom House
