Rodrigo Santiago specializes in Sinti Romani tradition of swing Jazz Guitar - Synonymous with Django Reinhart and his widespread global influence, creating a musical language revered by the globe. His musical legacy continues to live on through the many who walk in his footprints and apply them selves to the craft.
Rodrigo has been playing this style for decades and holds a Batchelor of jazz music performance. His fiery rhythmic flamenco influence is his trademark.
The soulful expressions of his Spanish heritage comes through and this wonderful musical combination is what he is known for world over.
No stranger to High Fi, Shenzo Gregorio returns to partner and present this ensemble holding down double bass lines on his octave viola and of course, bringing the flavour of Grappelli, a perfect compliment to the artform. Shenzo is one of Australia's most dynamic soloists and constantly re-invents himself upon different instruments. Again you will be amazed at his bass playing on his incredibly rare Octave Viola.
John Reeves has visited High fi twice before and wowed audiences each time. As a jazz pianist he is phenomenal and the last decades has seen him heavily immersed into the European tradition of accordion. His improvisational talents are brilliant and the tone of this instrument interwoven into Django tunes will transport you from the northern rivers back to 1938 in some Smokey bar in Paris!
Rory Dollard is another first time addition to our club, he is the 2nd guitarist and most importantly, rhythm section of the music. Additionally another phenomenal soloist in his own right. between him and Rodrigo they are carrying the heavyweight skill needed to give justice to this legendary music.
