Mark your calendars now: August 22, 2026Rockford will have it's first annual 'Mac Down' at the beautiful Riverview Inn & Suites, Ascend Hotel Collection (once the Cliffbreakers) on Riverside Blvd. What's a Mac Down? They are ticketed, one-day 2-hour events where local chefs compete to create the best vegan mac and cheese. Typically, around eight chefs participate, serving samples to over 100 attendees. Guests are invited to sample and vote for their favorite dishes, and winning chefs receive prizes at the end of the event. These events highlight how fun vegan food can be!
