Rock 'n Roll Drive-In Night

The National Automobile Museum is inviting the community to step back into the golden age of rock 'n' roll with the debut of "Rock & Roll Night at the Drive-In," a one-of-a-kind experience taking place Friday, August 28, 2026.
For the first time, Reno will host a drive-in event that combines the excitement of live entertainment, classic automobiles, audience participation, and an outdoor movie under the stars. Guests will enjoy an evening filled with music, dancing, contests, and nostalgia before settling in to watch the beloved musical classic Grease on the big screen." This is much more than a movie night," said Phil MacDougall, President of the National Automobile Museum. "We're creating an immersive experience that celebrates the music, fashion, automobiles, and culture of the 1950s. We wanted to bring something truly unique to Reno—an evening where families, friends, and car enthusiasts can make memories together."
The evening begins with the high-energy sounds of Papa Clutch and the Shifters, one of the region's favorite rock 'n' roll bands, performing live from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite 1950s attire, bring their classic vehicles, and join in the fun with several exciting contests throughout the evening.Featured competitions include:
- Best Dressed Character Couple
- Best Classic Car
- Dance-Off Competition
Winners will receive special prizes and bragging rights as Reno's first-ever Rock & Roll Night champions.Following the live entertainment, guests will enjoy a sing-along showing of the timeless classic Grease, beginning at approximately 8:00 p.m., about 30 minutes after sunset.
Whether singing along to favorite songs or simply relaxing beneath the evening sky, attendees will experience one of cinema's most beloved musicals in a setting unlike anything else in Northern Nevada.

Tickets: General Admission: $40 per car – Fit as many people as you would like in your vehicle!With limited vehicle spaces available, guests are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets early before the event reaches capacity. Ticket prices increase to $50 per car beginning August 24, and tickets will not be sold at the gate. Advance ticket purchase is required.

- Lawn chairs can not be setup in areas assigned to car parking. Please only use the area directly infront of your car. This will be strictly enforced due to limited parking space. (There will be areas identified with signage for lawn chairs)
- No pets, outside food, beverages, or coolers
- Concessions will be available on site
