Rock and Role: A BIPOC-centering Geology Camp Retreat in Ellensburg WA

✊🏾 Why BIPOC Geology Camp Matters
We’re pulling up as a community and writing ourselves into the story. Historically, geoscience hasn’t always welcomed people of color. That era is over. We created Rock and Role not just to connect and introduce you to geology, but to prove that science belongs to us, too.
All the details are here: https://thebronzechapter.org/event/rock-and-role-a-bipoc-geology-camp-retreat-in-ellensburg/
This is the only POC-centering geology sleepover summer camp we're aware of in the United States. We’re partnering with the most engaging voices in the field – including one of the few women of color geology doctorates in the nation – to create a space where expertise and culture collide. We aren’t just visiting the landscape; we’re learning to read it.
Rock and Role is an intergenerational celebration of our connection to land and water in collaboration with Central Washington University Geology educators Nick Zentner and Dr. Hannah Shamloo. For 3 days and 2 nights, we won’t just be tourists; we'll be Earth Detectives.
Financial assistance is available along with a 20% discount for groups of 5 or more people. Our event web page has all the details.
