Welcome to ROC the Block, Portsmouth’s initiative to 𝗥eclaim 𝗢ur 𝗖ommunity. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in our neighborhoods by addressing key issues and improving the community's appearance and safety. This isn’t just one event – it’s a long-term commitment to do everything possible to make our neighborhoods safe, attractive, and prosperous.
Join community representatives and fellow volunteers on November 19th at River Shore Baptist Church for our Brandon Square, Southampton & Edgefield Neighborhood event!
Together, we’ll walk the area picking up trash and identifying concerns that need to be addressed. Items on our task list include:
𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿: Inspect & clean storm water drains to ensure proper drainage, and eliminate standing water.
𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀: Inspect street signs for visibility, remove branches or other obstructions, and repair any damages.
𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀: Repair potholes in the streets to improve driving conditions.
𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: Report broken streetlights to Dominion Energy for prompt repair.
𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀: Inspect both city & private properties to ensure they comply with local codes, and address any violations.
𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵: Remove bulk trash piles and litter from the streets.
Can’t join us for the community walk? No problem. Keep an eye out for representatives on your street and pop outside to share your concerns or report issues. Together, we can create healthier, safer and more vibrant neighborhoods for everyone!
