About this Event
After an apprenticeship as a stone mason, Glassby was sponsored by John Reed of the Rock Pottery. Firstly he attended the Sheffield School of Art. Then in 1858 he went to study in Paris. He is best known for helping to create: the Lions of Trafalgar Square; the friezes around the base of the Richard the Lion Heart statue, to be found to the fore of the Houses of Parliament; friezes around the top of the Royal Albert Hall; also the Albert Memorial
