Kicking off the Roanoke by Bike Film Series is a double feature hosted by Roanoke Star Cycling. The first film we will share to kick off the evening will be Monte: Can't Stop, Won't Stop (2023). Monte is a 19-minute Patagonia film following Demonte "Monte" Cosby, who escaped a difficult life in Richmond, Virginia's public housing to become a competitive cyclist. Directed by Dave Mayers, it highlights how mountain biking transformed his life, leading him to a college scholarship and a passion for introducing the outdoors to marginalized communities.
The feature film is Anytime (2024), a co-production from Redbull & Anthill Films; presented by Shimano with support from Maxxis, Arosa Lenzerheide's Bike Kingdom and EVOC. Anytime follows the collective ambitions of fifteen of the world’s best male and female freeride mountain bikers across forests, deserts, cities and high-alpine peaks, as they attempt to define the frontiers of their sport. Runtime: 1:02.
The Roanoke by Bike Film Series is presented by New Belgium Brewing and will have 3 other movie nights. Each event will be hosted by a different local non-profit dedicated to making cycling more accessible for all.
Proceeds from the March 3rd event will benefit Roanoke Star Cycling, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to the growth and support of youth mountain biking in the Roanoke Valley.
Special thanks to New Belgium Brewing and Cardinal Bicycle for supporting this event!
