We anticipate that USDA will release a Draft EIS on rolling back the Roadless Rule sometime in March, followed by what we're hearing is a 30-day public comment period. We are also hearing that USDA WILL NOT be holding public meetings/hearings anywhere in the country.
SEACC is mobilizing our partners to organize our own public hearings in defense of the Roadless Rule throughout southeast Alaska. The structure for these events will be just like a regular public hearing where we will have a few panelists in the beginning to talk about the values of Roadless areas, before opening the room up to gather public comments. We will be documenting all public comments with audio/video and then transcribing the comments to then be submitted as a part of the public record once the public comment is open.
