Fort Ligonier invites Grades 4-12 students to help us commemorate America’s 250th birthday with a fun history competition that puts their knowledge to the test about the American Revolution and the role Fort Ligonier played in the birth of our nation! Cash prizes and special plaques awarded.Road to Revolution Quiz Bowl Competition Information:
-The “Road to Revolution” theme is to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American Independence and the role Fort Ligonier played in the birth of our nation!
-The competition will be held at the Fort Ligonier Center for History Education on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Teams will be provided with their competition time after registration closes.
-There is NO FEE to enter the competition for the team plus one teacher/advisor, which also includes free admission to Fort Ligonier’s world-class museum.
-Teacher/advisor mentoring student participants must register under their name to qualify for free admission (one teacher/advisor may mentor multiple teams).
-Fort Ligonier is offering a special $7.00 admission fee for all if pre-purchased in advance for March 14, 2026. This includes access to the museum and entry to the competition. Regular admission applies at the door.
-All students in Grades 4-12 are eligible to compete, including homeschool students. Teams of three to five students are eligible to compete in one of three divisions, Grades 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12.
-Questions degree of difficulty will be based on the grade range.
-Questions will be asked in the form of a statement (like Jeopardy, but answers will not require the “what is” statement).
-A study guide of terms to review will be provided upon registration.
-For each question, one student from each team will compete with a member of another team. The first student to buzz will answer the question. If the answer is incorrect, the opposing student has an opportunity to answer. If there are multiple incorrect answers, the floor is open for the team to discuss. The first team to buzz in with the correct answer receives the point. If their answer is incorrect after a fourth time, the question will be used as a potential tie breaker at the end of the competition.
-Each team will receive 3 passes to use to discuss with their team before answering a question without having to guess independently.
-Teams will compete in timed blocks (timing based on the number of teams competing), whichever team is ahead with the correct answers after the timed block expires will be the winner.
-One winning team per grand range will be awarded a cash prize and receive a special plaque.
