ROACH SHOW at STITCH AND DESTROY

Call For Art! Application closes July 19th

Summer time is back, and so are the roaches! They're here forever, just like textile waste. But at STITCH AND DESTROY we like to transform scraps into works of art. We want to see how these gross pesty creatures can inspire you to create something beautiful, scary, evocative or also nasty.

Submission Guidelines:

• All mediums accepted. Painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, fiber art, collage, photography, ect. We are exclusively looking for works that can be hung on the wall.
• All works must be no greater than 8"x8"x8". The Giant Black Cockroach is the largest roach and has a wing span of up to 8 inches!
• Works utilizing reused, upcycled or reclaimed materials will be prioritized.
• Work must be inspired by roaches but does not have to literally depict a roach. Get creative!
• No actual roaches may be used- alive or dead
• No AI, only original art accepted
• Feel free to submit up to 3 pieces but not all may be chosen for the show. Please submit only one application

Work will be on display at STITCH AND DESTROY, 523 S 4th St Philadelphia, PA 19147.

Our opening reception is on Friday August 28th from 5-8pm. The reception will be during Fourth Fridays on South Street. There will be complimentary snacks and drinks, as well as other activations we'll announce closer to the event. The exhibition will conclude on November 1st.

STITCH AND DESTROY is located right off of South Street on 4th St in Philadelphia. Our address is 523 S 4th St. Philadelphia, PA 19147.

There is limited metered street parking on our block and in this area it can be difficult to find parking. We suggest taking public transportation- Bus 40, 57, 12, 47, 42 and 21 are nearby. The Market-Frankford (L) Line 5th St stop is 7 blocks away. The Broad Street (B) Line Lombard-South stop is 10 blocks away.
