About this Event

“Gratitude is so much more than a polite 'thank you.' It is the thread that connects us in a deep relationship, simultaneously physical and spiritual, as our bodies are fed and spirits nourished by the sense of belonging, which is the most vital of foods. Gratitude creates a sense of abundance, the knowing that you have what you need. In that climate of sufficiency, our hunger for more abates and we take only what we need, in respect for the generosity of the giver.” - Robin Wall Kimmerer, The Serviceberry

It is the time of the bountiful summer garden ~ tomatoes, watermelons, corn, sunflowers ~ long days spent outside ~ sweet evenings with friends. We'll sing songs of thankfulness this month to take in this abundance and belonging. In turn, we remember that gratitude invites reciprocity, care, and responsibility to one another and the living world. Come join in these songs of celebration: I'd be so grateful to sing with you!

Donation based: $10-30 suggested. Free spots are available.
10% of profits this month goes to Southside ReLeaf, which works on a variety of initiatives to green our wider neighborhood; they also challenge environmental inequailities through local & state advocacy.

About the Circle:

🌀river city sing is a community song circle at Living Water Community Center, hosted by Kelley Doyle. Surrounded by a bee sanctuary filled with native plants and a produce garden, we gather to connect to our voices, our breath, and with one another! This isn't a choir or chorus but a circle of folks singing together - no musical experience is necessary.
~ Above all, community singing is for all. ~
Your voice is welcomed, needed, and cherished.

Kelley will share songs by beginning with their lyrics, then teaching the songs a capella (without instruments) or with drum/harmonium through call-and-echo, gradually building as we go. We repeat them several times to let the words & sound sink in. They focus on themes of love, kinship with the Earth, and self-compassion — little pocket songs we carry to encourage & comfort ourselves and one another.

We'll begin in circle, find grounding through breath and easeful movement, sing, and close. Bring a cup if you'd like some tea!
