River Book Club

Join us for a discussion of Robert Macfarlane’s Is a River Alive, a lyrical and thought-provoking exploration of rivers as living presences that are dynamic, storied, and deeply intertwined with human and ecological life. Together, we’ll reflect on Macfarlane’s meditations on water, place, and our evolving relationship with the natural world. If the weather is cooperative, we will take a short walk to Smelt Brook, where we can continue our conversation about our own relationships with local waterways, and maybe make some time for nature journaling.
