About this Event
Join us for a hands-on workshop inspired by the exhibition Ritual Held, where drawing and storytelling come together to explore the rituals of daily life. Participants are invited to bring objects that hold personal significance and engage in still-life drawing exercises, while sharing the stories and meanings behind these rituals.
Working in pencil and conté, the workshop emphasizes care, attention, and reflection, offering a space to consider how small, repeated actions shape our lives and connections. All materials will be provided, and everyone is welcome to participate, regardless of drawing experience.
Through drawing and conversation, this workshop encourages mindfulness, creativity, and the quiet practice of ritual - offering both a reflective and communal experience. The artwork produced will also become a part of the exhibition's evolving landscape.
About the artist:
Julianne Claire Chladny is a Vancouver-based artist working primarily in drawing. Her practice explores repetition, interruption, and restraint as methods of inquiry, examining how meaning accumulates through everyday objects, gestures, and acts of attention. Through the interplay of realism and abstraction, her work considers ritual not as belief, but as a practical structure for holding memory, uncertainty, and care over time.
Please also join us for the closing reception on the 26th of February from 6-8 PM at the gallery. No registration required.
