Ritual is a traveling table — a single-seating, five course dinner that exists once and never exactly again. Each chapter pairs two culinary traditions that have been waiting to finish a sentence the rest of the world interrupted. Chapter Five brings Creole and Thai into the same room for the first time.
These are not opposites. They are cousins who grew up on different water.
Both kitchens were born in river deltas. Both carry the memory of people who crossed oceans and arrived, still cooking, on the other side. Both build heat deliberately — the Creole roux that takes forty minutes of silence, the Thai paste ground by hand until it becomes something ancient. Both understand that the best food is never rushed.
