Rising Waters: Documentary Screening and Panel Discussion
About this Event
Join us for a free screening of Rising Waters: What Climate Change Means for One Small Rhode Island Town, a documentary created by students from Mount Hope High School.
Through student storytelling and community voices, Rising Waters explores how climate change and sea-level rise are affecting Warren, Rhode Island. The film examines vulnerable neighborhoods, community concerns, and local efforts to prepare for a changing coastline.
Following the screening, filmmakers and University of Rhode Island researchers will participate in a panel discussion about coastal resilience, community engagement, and how storytelling and research can help communities move from understanding risk to taking action.
The conversation will connect the film with Risks, Impacts, and Strategies for Coastal Communities, or RISCC, a URI-based research project examining flooding, groundwater impacts, economic consequences, and adaptation decisions in coastal communities, including Warren.
WHERE: Corless Auditorium, Watkins Lab, URI Bay Campus, South Ferry Road, Narragansett
NOTE: Pizza will be served beginning at 6 p.m. The film and discussion will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Sponsored by Rhode Island Sea Grant, The RISCC project, URI College of the Environment and Life Sciences, Warren HEZ, and the URI Chapter of the Coastal Society
