Rising Stars Program: Session 4- Middle School

This program is for South Windsor residents ONLY. You may register your child for ONE session.

Rising S.T.A.R.S. - South Windsor Teens Assisting, Respecting, Sharing

South Windsor Youth & Family Services offers the Rising Stars Summer Community Service Program during the summer months for middle school and high school youth who are in need of positive youth development and/or socialization, and for those interested in gaining leadership experience and developing team-building skills.

The program provides a structured, supervised setting with opportunities for many different kinds of community service projects. Projects are organized by S.W. Y&FS in cooperation with South Windsor Parks and Recreation Department, S.W. Food Alliance, and other town or community partners. Please come ready to work! Participants may also be working for local farms, community gardens, parks, SW Senior Center, libraries, or schools. There may be times when we are weeding or doing work outdoors, so participants are required to wear sneakers and clothing that is appropriate for the weather.

There is a focus on both team building and skill-building throughout the session and the second week ends with a field trip. The purpose of team building and outings is to enhance self-esteem, encourage positive group and individual decision-making, practice taking healthy risks, and enhance group cohesion.

The program is housed at the S.W. Y&FS Teen Center, located in the Charles N. Enes Community Center. Each session will have a maximum of 10 participants. Participants may be allowed to attend more than one session if approved by the program coordinator after registration is closed.

• Camp Days: Monday-Thursday

• Middle School- Session 4: July 29th-August 1

• Hours: 9:00am-2:00pm

• Price for session: $50.00

• Lunch, snacks, and trips are included in cost.

No transportation will be provided. Campers will need a ride to and from camp each day.
