Rise: A Wayne Tucker Tribute to Legends Herb Alpert and Chuck Mangione
About this Event
QPL’s Culture Connection is delighted to welcome back jazz artist Wayne Tucker and his band, The Bad Mothas, for an encore performance celebrating two icons at the intersection of jazz and popular music: Herb Alpert and Chuck Mangione.
Herb Alpert is a towering figure in music history, not only as a performer but also as an executive. He co-founded A&M Records, which became one of the most successful independent labels in history. He has sold more than 72 million records and won nine Grammy Awards.
Chuck Mangione (1940-2025) represents a bridge between the jazz avant-garde and commercial pop. His 1977 mega-hit “Feels So Good” reached No. 4 on the Billboard charts, an almost unthinkable feat for an instrumental jazz track at the time.
Wayne Tucker is a Grammy-nominated trumpeter, composer, arranger, violinist, vocalist, actor, model, and educator based in New York City. He has toured and recorded with jazz artists Kurt Elling, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Cyrille Aimée; pop artists Taylor Swift and Elvis Costello; R&B singers Ne-Yo and Gabriel Garzón-Montano; hip-hop artists Jidenna and Ryan Leslie; rock band Brass Against; and house music stars Crystal Waters and CeCe Peniston.
Born in Barcelona in 1998 and now based in New York City, Mar Vilaseca is a jazz vocalist, pianist, and composer whose sound blends jazz, soul, and Brazilian music. She is a graduate of The Juilliard School.
