Ringmer AFC Race Night in support of Prostate Cancer UK

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. 1 in 8 men will get it, and if you're Black, your risk is double. We're standing together to support our dads, brothers, partners and friends - by raising awareness, funding lifesaving research, campaigning for change and providing helpful support and information.In April 2025 our Club Welfare Officer, Danny Mizon, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Prostate Cancer following a PSA test despite having no symptoms. He underwent successful surgery in July 2025 and is still cancer free now.Prostate Cancer will touch so many lives so join us in doing our bit to support research and treatment into this horrible disease.How the Race Night Works Get ready for a fun, fast-paced evening of racing action—all from the comfort of your seat! You don't need to be a horse racing expert to play, win, and support a fantastic cause.Entry is just £1, and every bet costs exactly £1 (cash is preferred but cards are accepted. Please bring plenty of pound coins!)1. The RacesWe will be showing a series of filmed horse races on the big screen. The names of the horses for each race will be listed in your race card, but the actual race is kept a strict secret until the tape goes up!2. Placing Your BetsBefore each race begins, the "Tote" (our betting desk) will open.Look at your race card and choose which horse number you want to back.Head to the Tote desk and place your £1 bet on your chosen horse.You can bet on more than one horse, or buy multiple £1 bets on the same horse to increase your winnings!3. The Race and The PayoutOnce all bets are in, the Tote closes, and the race is drawn and played on the screen. The horses definitely run faster the louder you cheer!As soon as the race finishes and the winner is declared:50% of all the money taken for that race goes directly to Prostate Cancer UK.The remaining 50% is divided equally among the people who held winning tickets!(For example: If 100 bets are placed, £50 goes to the charity, and £50 is shared among those who backed the winning horse).Other ways to get involved:Own a Horse: Before the night begins, you can "buy" and name a horse for £3. If your horse wins its race, you win £5 (We will be in touch for your horse's name)Sponsor a Race: Businesses or individuals can sponsor an entire race for £20 and have their name or logo featured at the top of the race card.
